Online Sex Therapy & Intimacy Counseling for Individuals & Couples

Hi, I’m Dr. Ashley Sweet (she/her).

I am a licensed psychotherapist and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist with nearly two decades of clinical experience in sexual, reproductive, and relational health. My mission is simple: to provide the evidence-based sex + pleasure education and compassionate clinical support most of us never received growing up.

Pleasure is More Than Just "Feeling Good"

Pleasure is a vital pathway to personal healing and a bridge to building deep, authentic connection with yourself and your partner.

My clinical practice is rooted in feminist activism, body autonomy, and radical empathy. I do not see "broken" people or diagnoses to fix—I see unhelpful cultural scripts, religious conditioning, and systemic shame that we can dismantle together.

Compassionate, Specialized Telehealth Across Licensed States

As a Doctor of Clinical Sexology and licensed psychotherapist, I bring a sex-positive, non-judgmental approach to every session. Based in New England, I offer specialized online sex therapy, relationship counseling, and intimacy therapy to individuals and couples across Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, Virginia, Florida, and Idaho via secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth.

Beyond individual and couples therapy, I host private group facilitation, workshops, therapy intensives, and retreats.

Whether you are here to de-program shame, navigate desire mismatches, overcome physical discomfort, or reclaim your body, I am here to support your journey back to yourself.

Client Testimonials

I started working with Ashley at a very vulnerable time in my life. She became my rock! She stood up for me when I didn’t know how to. She helped me work though past traumas, helped me learn boundaries, taught me how to better communicate with my partner and so much more. She is a great listener and provides great advice and perspective. I highly recommend working with her if you need to learn how to be a better champion for yourself or if you just need a great listener in your corner... Ashley helped me to become a better person and partner and for that I am forever grateful.

Ashley was the first person that I ever told about my abortion. I never regretted it, but it still hurt that I had to keep it a secret. She helped me to see that abortion is normal and I don’t need to be ashamed.
— Therapy Client, 2019
You [Ashley] helped me and my husband fix our problems in the bedroom. I had no idea what sex therapy would be like but it was actually fun and I learned so much. Thank you!

Therapeutic Expertise

  • Difficulty with Desire

Low desire is one of the most common reasons people seek therapy, yet it often carries the heaviest weight of shame. I help you move beyond the "shoulds" of spontaneous desire to understand how your unique "brakes" and "accelerators" work. Together, we’ll de-program the pressure to perform and help you reconnect with an erotic self that feels authentic and sustainable.

  • Navigating Communication

We aren't born knowing how to talk about intimacy; we inherit "scripts" from our families and culture that often fail us in adulthood. I help you move past the frustration of feeling misunderstood and develop a communication style rooted in clarity and consent. Together, we’ll build a shared language that allows you to express your needs, set boundaries, and deepen connection without the weight of shame.

  • Challenges with Orgasm

Difficulty reaching orgasm—or "spectatoring" your own experience—is often the body’s response to pressure or distraction. My approach shifts the focus from a goal-oriented "finish line" back to embodied pleasure. We work to quiet the mental noise and re-tune your nervous system, allowing you to stay present in your body and discover what truly works for you.

  • Healing from Trauma

Whether it happened recently or decades ago, the body holds onto trauma and the shame that often follows. These experiences can create a sense of disconnection or fear that feels impossible to move past. Through mindfulness, body awareness, and a compassionate re-authoring of your story, we work to untangle these knots. I provide a safe, non-judgmental space to process your pain, quiet the shame, and help you reclaim your body as a place of safety and pleasure.

  • Anxiety & Self-Esteem

It is difficult to feel grounded when you are navigating a constant sea of societal and personal expectations. Often, this internal pressure manifests as a "loud" inner critic that disconnects you from your confidence and your desires. We will work together to quiet that noise, untangle the roots of your anxiety, and strengthen your self-esteem. My goal is to help you move through the world feeling more centered, resilient, and reconnected to your own power.

  • Religious Trauma + Shame

If you grew up in an environment where sex was taught as a source of guilt or fear, those messages don't just disappear—they live in your body. I specialize in the delicate work of de-programming these restrictive narratives. We’ll work together to untangle your authentic values from your upbringing, helping you claim a sexual identity that feels safe, joyful, and entirely yours.
